I'm currently reading "The Way of Being", and enjoying Flannery's dry southern wit. I have a collection of her short stories, but I feel that I'll benefit from reading them more with her voice in my head first.

Kreeft interprets Kant a little bit ungenerously when he says that the will offers no absolute guidance for each person. Kant introduces respect (for the dignity of the self and other) precisely to that end. We must always see dignity as the only moral absolute and that is, als for Catholics, a very good basic guiding principle, I believe.

In the past when I lived in Virginia, my Catholic churches welcomed people with disabilities. I myself have been using a cane for many years. There were people in wheelchairs, and that was common place. We used to have healing masses, and that was another place for many of the people with some disabilities went. I am now in South Carolina, and the area is a retired area. We are there with disabilities as well, walkers, wheelchairs, canes. There are people with mental challenges as well. Intellectual disabilities. I do think, however, that the electronic doors should be in every single church and they’re not. I also think that we must accommodate each individual problem that a person has as far as walking or moving or moving or hearing in any way. We do not have signing with hands for people who are deaf. I do believe this has to be addressed as much as possible. Every church and every community is extremely different and perhaps there should be one church in each community that has all of the above. Therefore there could be one at least everybody could count on. We have ramps, special seating…and need more. How do we accommodate each person?
